Regina Donde is a talented Mexican designer deeply connected with Punta Mita. No surprise why her beautiful collections go along so well with the beach chic Punta Mita lifestyle. Let’s learn more about Regina with our “Ten Questions With…“
Regina Donde
1. Describe yourself in 140 characters or less – Twitter-bio style:
“I find materials, textures, shapes, and colors from around the world, but I must say that the most important element, or ingredient, in my designs, I find in Mexico…the country that is in my blood, and the depths of my heart”
2. What do you view as your strongest connection to Punta de Mita?
I grew up with the Punta Mita development project – I used to come to these beaches and picnic when this was not still undiscovered. I love the Four Seasons Resort – especially The Boutiques, where I sell my clothing. I have learned to visualize Resort wear as a lifestyle, so I do have a strong connection with the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita.
3. Where do you find your inspiration?
Throughout my travels, I have captured the mysticism of these ancient cultures, the spirituality of their relics, and the beauty of their objects — which I then transform into designs that are special and absolutely original. Each piece of jewelry created has a story. Each pattern I design reflects a memory, and each graphic is a unique moment that inspires a fashion piece that is to be worn, enjoyed and – of course – to be shown off.
4. What is your perfect Punta de Mita day (or, night?)
Having fun in “el Anclote”; launching a “panga” and visiting the Marietas Islands.
5. Where is your favorite Punta de Mita place to dine & drink?
Dining at “Bahia” by Richard Sandoval, at Four Seasons Resorts; or eating at “Si Señor”.
6. What is your favorite way to play in Punta Mita?
In the winter, when I get to see all the whales that come to this area to visit.
7. Finish this sentence: Punta Mita, is, to me:
A must! Everyone should experience it!
8. What is your “go to” style, when in Punta Mita?
My “go to style” in Punta Mita is cool “casual beach”, “easy cotton”, “beach bohemian”… totally my style!! It’s perfectly reflected in the Boutiques of Punta Mita, as this is the “source” for Regina when in Punta Mita!
9. How did you get your start in (designing/art/etc.)?
I was born in Mexico City where I developed an enthusiasm for art, travel and cosmopolitan personality. Towards the end of the 90’s I obtained my degree in Graphic Design, launched my own clothing line, and then went to Italy to continue my studies in textiles. Another of my passions has always been photography where I captured incredible images of the faces, exotic costumes, colors, and textures of Mexico and beyond. Thailand, Egypt, Nepal, India, Myanmar, Morocco, and Turkey are some of the places I have visited where I have been inspired by the local life, culture, people, and soul of these magnificent places.
10. What’s your perfect family/OR/romantic Punta Mita moment?
My favorite moment in Punta Mita is chilling out with my friends in some beachfront restaurant, admiring the view — and at the same time, enjoying a taste of mezcal and a nice tuna tostada!
