When arriving by plane, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport is close to the north end of town near the Marina Vallarta, about 27km (16[bf]3/4 miles) distance from Punta de Mita. Transportes Terrestres minivans and Aeromovil taxis make the trip from the airport. They use a zone pricing system, with fares clearly posted at the ticket booths. Taxi fares average about $100 US ($1200 MN) for a ride to the Punta de Mita hotels. Federally licensed airport taxis exclusively provide transportation from the airport, and their fares are more than double local taxi fares. Only airport cabs may pick up passengers leaving the airport.
Note that when you arrive at the International Arrivals gate, after you collect your baggage, you enter into an enclosed area with colorful wall displays and an aggressive group of seemingly helpful greeters; be aware that these are timeshare salespeople, and their goal, often in the guise of offering you free or discounted transportation, is to get you to attend a timeshare presentation. Keep walking—just outside this booth are the bona fide taxi and transportation alternatives.

Some guests find having a car handy, especially when traveling with a group or family, or if you plan to explore the towns surrounding the Punta de Mita area.
Within Punta Mita, you’ll find taxis (at the Resorts and in the village) readily available (local taxi number is: 329-291-5301). If you are staying inside the gates of the Punta Mita resort at a rental villa or condo, there is also a complementary community shuttle that runs daily.
